Reclaim Design (Portland, Oregon) - 12/08/2009
This website was by the far the hardest website to actually come up with a theme that I liked for longer than a couple days. Like any website we do at Reclaim Design the work that is produced is a direct reflection of our work and who we are. We wanted our website to be simple, but yet extremely clean, as well as showcase our abilities. After all, looks are everything!

The first phase ended coming out dark and with no real personality. One thing we tried was spending time doing rendering of all of our icons in hopes it would give the website a bit more personality. The icons as a group came out very well. However, they did not help give the look that we were going for.

The second phase we tried was to change the style completely and go for a light cartoon look. We created the whole layout based on a side profile of a town. The header was the clouds and sun and the footer was the center of earth. This layout had extreme potential; however, it just was not the style I wanted to represent Reclaim Design. I felt the cartoon look might only appeal to a finite clientele.

The third phases led us to an extreme opposite of the last two phases. We went for an urban cinderblock wall as a background and then laid all of our graphics over top of it so that they looked as if they were actually part of the wall itself. About day five of the process I decided that this was to much of a grunge look. Again we did not want to use a style that might turn away potential clients.

The final phase is the current website that you see today. That being said, it went through ten revisions to actually get the final product. On this style we decided that we were going to incorporate all of the likes from the three previous versions. We went with an off white texture for the background and coupled it with ripped paper. We also tried to keep the color scheme basic, but not bland. I think for most part we got what we wanted. We're sure there will always be improvements to add to the design.
